“Are Leaders Born or Made?” was the title of a Masterclass we just completed at the Commercial Bank Plaza in Doha. It’s the latest special session tailored specifically for Commercial Bank in a partnership between HEC Paris in Qatar and the Qatari bank.

HEC Paris, one of the world’s leading providers of Executive Education, has emphasized its unwavering support for Qatar’s economic development and National Vision 2030 by presenting an Executive Education Masterclass for senior managers at the Commercial Bank.

Are Leaders Born or Made? was presented by HEC Paris Affiliate Professor Randy White and explored how leaders are identified and how the path they take to assume leadership positions is often an intriguing journey.

During the event, senior Commercial Bank managers were encouraged to examine the definitions of leadership and challenge what makes effective leadership, including how it continues to evolve in the 21st century.

“The study of leadership is a global industry in itself. Estimated to be worth USD 40 billion annually, everyone has an opinion on what makes a great leader and what defines that leadership,” said Dr. White “This Masterclass was designed to challenge senior figures at Commercial Bank, who have a significant role to play in the economic development of this region, to analyze leadership and their own techniques and look at what makes a successful leader to better serve their organization and the national objectives.”

Commercial Bank Group CEO Joseph Abraham said: “Commercial Bank recognises that education is key to developing Qatar’s human capital in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The most valuable investment we can make is in the development of our next generation of leaders by ensuring that they possess the competencies that will maximise their potential. We have launched a number of initiatives that focus on the development of our workforce by inspiring creativity and harnessing entrepreneurship. We believe that such initiatives are not only aligned with our strategic goals, they will benefit the wider Qatari community and ultimately the Qatari economy.”

HEC Paris in Qatar is committed to designing and delivering high-quality Executive Education programs to the region and has created numerous bespoke programs for Commercial Bank including the Youth Leadership Acceleration Program.
